Built on Heritage.
Driven by Innovation.
Nearly four decades of craftsmanship, innovation and British manufacturing.

Good Directions was founded in 1988 by Robin and Trish Davies from their home in Botley, Hampshire. What began as a small family business supplying traditional weathervanes, sundials and garden features has grown into one of Britain's most diverse manufacturers of architectural products.

Our journey has never been driven by becoming the biggest.

Instead, it has been shaped by listening to our customers, investing in British manufacturing and continually expanding our capabilities to solve new challenges.

As demand grew, so did our expertise. We moved from supplying products to designing and manufacturing them ourselves, investing in skilled craftspeople alongside modern CNC machining, fabrication, GRP moulding, woodworking and finishing. Today, around 95% of the products we sell are manufactured by us from our Hampshire headquarters, giving us complete control over quality, flexibility and innovation.

One of the first examples of this evolution came through our architectural projects. Customers increasingly asked whether we could manufacture high quality copper guttering and rainwater goods to complement our clocks, cupolas and roof turrets. Rather than buying these products from elsewhere, we developed our own manufacturing capability and launched Coppa Gutta, specialising in premium copper rainwater systems.

As architects, contractors and homeowners began requesting alternative materials, our product range naturally expanded to include stainless steel, natural zinc and pre weathered quartz zinc, together with bespoke hopper heads, rain chains, rain cups, fascias, flashings and architectural metalwork. The business had grown far beyond copper alone, leading to the creation of Metal Gutta, a brand that reflects the breadth of materials and bespoke solutions we manufacture today.

Our continued growth has also enabled us to preserve and develop several respected British brands.

Neptune Street Furniture joined the Group in 2013, followed by Shire Clocks in 2016 and Hawkins Clock Company in 2018, each bringing decades of specialist knowledge and craftsmanship. More recently, TWN GRP strengthened our expertise in composite manufacturing, allowing us to produce everything from architectural domes and roof turrets to large bespoke GRP structures.
Although our range has expanded considerably over the years, our philosophy remains unchanged.

We believe quality should always come before quantity.

We believe traditional craftsmanship and modern manufacturing belong together.

We believe heritage should be preserved, not replaced.

Most importantly, we believe every project deserves the same care and attention, whether it is a single bespoke weathervane, a heritage clock restoration, a copper rainwater system or a complete architectural feature.

Today, the Good Directions Group brings together specialist brands, experienced craftspeople and advanced manufacturing under one roof. From clocks, clock towers and roof turrets to GRP structures, street furniture, precision engineering and premium metal rainwater systems, every product reflects the same commitment to quality that inspired the business back in 1988.

Nearly four decades later, we remain a family business with the same ambition.

To design, manufacture and preserve products that will stand the test of time.
